What glitters doesn’t have to be gold . One particular thing that proves this theory , is the present day Potong Pasir estate . Considering the living condition presently , it is a far cry from what it was before . So let’s get to the point . What advantages and disadvantages does living in Potong Pasir have for us ? The obvious choice to start off , would be the advantages . Here we go .
One word that sums up why Potong Pasir is great is facilities . Firstly , the eye-opener here in Potong Pasir would definitely be St Andrew’s Village . In the village , it has a Kindergarten , a Primary school , a Secondary school and a College . This really sounds like life has already been planned ahead for you for the next 15 to 16 years ! Most people living in the Potong Pasir estate is part of the family as it is very convenient for their kids . Secondly , medical help is readily available in Potong Pasir too . There is a 24-hour clinic in the community . People living in the Potong Pasir area will reach in no more than 5 minutes ! Thirdly , not far away from the clinic lies a Community Centre which has great facilities . In the community centre , there is a basketball court , an archery range and a badminton court which can also be used as a conference hall . Also within the community centre lies a KFC outlet which allows hungry consumers after having a tiring workout to have a quick bite . This community centre sure is user-friendly! Fourthly , there is a Hindu temple just across a coffee-shop which allows Hindu believers to have a time of worship to their god . Lastly , near to this wonderful community is an MRT station . This MRT station allows citizens to reach their destination in the fastest amount of time possible .
With advantages comes disadvantages too . The common problem that residents have is being woken up by the honking sounds early in the morning . As the roads are small and the rising amount of people driving their kids to school , this causes a traffic jam and people without patience would start to honk . Second problem is when school boys , having been released from school , would hang out in the area until quite late in the afternoon before heading home . This causes a nuisance among the residents as they are hanging out at food outlets and there isn’t any space for them to eat , forcing them to find somewhere else to eat .
In the future , there could be a chance that the estate evolves and things could be way better than what it is today . Even without evolving , in my heart , Potong Pasir has already reached a point where it is on par with other estates .
